Warehouse Management

Overview

The Warehouse Management module is used for maintaining adequate stock in Shipment picking locations.

Setup

To get started, assign a Product Location to a Product through either:

  • the Product’s view page under the Additional Info tab, via the Locations widget
  • in the Product Location module

Ensure that the Product Location has “Pick Face” checked so that the system will calculate stock movement suggestions during Warehouse Management regeneration.
“Reorder Quantity” marks the point at which the system will suggest moving more of this Product’s stock to this Location when stock levels dip below this amount.

“Maximum Quantity” is the amount that the system will try to refill the Location to when regenerating.
This amount is taken only as a suggestion when calculating amounts to move, you are able to override this when converting Warehouse Actions into Replenishment Runs e.g. if reaching Maximum Quantity only requires 95 units but your pack sizes are in batches of 100 units, it will often make sense to move the entire batch even if this result in the quantity on hand at this Location to be above the Maximum Quantity.

Actions

After regenerating the proposed Warehouse Actions within the Warehouse Management module, you can Modify the system’s initial suggestions with your own updated quantities and dates, which will be transferred over to Replenishment Runs once Firmed.
In the Modify screen, you are able to check what stock is available to move, e.g. if the suggested quantity to move is 59 units, but you can see a batch of 60 available, you may wish to move this batch over instead.

Be aware that any “Proposed” Warehouse Actions are replaced if Regenerate Items is called.

“Firming” Warehouse Actions converts the lines onto a Replenishment Run for the user specified to do the physical stock movements.

From a Replenishment Run, you can remove Items if for some reason the stock cannot be moved by this user – this will remove the Item from this user’s Run, but will keep the Warehouse Action as Firm, which releases it for it to be re-added to any other Replenishment Runs.

Modifying an Item allows you specify which batches are planned to be moved from their Source location to the Destination Pick Face Location that need replenishing.

Once a line or the Run itself is marked as “Complete”, the system then moves these batches and quantities from Source to Destination.
When all Items are marked as Complete, the Run is also marked as Complete.
