Background
Batch Picking allows users to create a batch of shipments so that a picker can travel to multiple locations with a trolley of totes and efficiently pick stock for multiple shipments in the batch simultaneously at each location visited.
Setup
Settings
There is a new setting in Shipments called “Picking Batch Size”. This determines the default number of shipments to add to each shipment batch created.
The default number is 12.
Create Batch
- Navigate to the Shipment Hub module.
- On the “Batch Picking” tab Click “Add” on the “Batch Picking Shipments” widget.
- Choose the number of shipments you would like in the batch and any filters you would like to apply when automatically selecting that many draft shipments to include in the batch.
Note – only shipments that are not in another batch and that have issued stock will be selected.
Shipments will be prioritised by earliest effective date and then by created date.
Filters
- Sales Order Prefix – will only select shipments that have at least one line coming from a sales order with this sales order prefix.
- Carrier Service – Will only select shipments using these carrier services (multiple can be selected at once).
- Export – If ticked, will only select shipments with a delivery country that is different to that of the site address.
- Max Volume – If populated will only select shipments with a volume that is less than or equal to this value.
- Max Dimension – If populated will exclude shipments that have any batches whose height, width or length exceed this value.
Process
On the view page of the shipment batch you can view information about the batch and perform several actions:
Shipment
- Flag Shortage – mark a shipment as being short of the required stock.
- Unflag shortage – remove the shortage flag.
- Finalise – will finalise the individual shipment in the same way as when performed from the shipment view page.
Shipment Batch
- Finalise – will attempt to automatically finalise all shipments in the batch that are eligible.
Shipments that are flagged as short or that require serial numbering or that have expired stock (and have the product setting “Warn When Shipping Expired Inventory” ticked) are not eligible for automatic finalising and will need to be individually finalised.
Finalising will mark the batch as finalised, even if it still has draft (ineligible) shipments on it. - Print Batch Picking List – not yet implemented
